Paradoxa

Paradoxa publishes articles on genre literature: science fiction, horror, mysteries, children's literature, romance, comic studies, the fantastic, best sellers, the occult, westerns, oral literature, and more.

Guidelines for Submission

Paradoxa invites contributions on all aspects of genre literature (written, oral, drawn or designed) which make a significant and original contribution to the study of those genres. The opinions expressed in articles, notes, reviews, and letters are those of the authors and not necessarily those of the publishers or editors.

Articles should be submitted in English. Manuscripts should not normally exceed 6,500 words, but exceptions can be made on an individual basis. Style should conform to the MLA approved style. Paradoxa will regularize individual variations in style. Foreign language quotes must be accompanied by glosses (i.e., translation into English in brackets). Authors must obtain written permission for quoting unpublished or published material in excess of fair use. In accordance with Paradoxa's policy of blind submission, the author's name and institutional affiliation should appear only on the title page. A 500-word abstract on a separate sheet of paper should precede the main body of the article.

Upon acceptance, authors of articles and book reviews and interviews are requested to supply a final, proof-read copy, formatted using Word (or similar) as an email attachment. Authors will receive an electronic proof of their paper (article, review, interview), which must be correct and returned within forty-eight hours of receipt. No new material may be inserted in the text at the proofreading stage. Upon publication, authors will receive one complimentary copy of the issue in which their work appears.

Authors whose manuscripts have been accepted for publication warrant: (1) that the ms. has not been published elsewhere in English, and that the ms. will not be published in English elsewhere until after publication in Paradoxa; (2) that Paradoxa will be held financially blameless, and that the author will be financially responsible for any legal action taken against Paradoxa as a result of publishing the author's contribution; (3) that Paradoxa retains the right to republish the manuscript in any issue of reissue of Paradoxa, or in any anthology published by Paradoxa or any other publisher; (4) that in any republication arranged by the author, the author will acknowledge its first publication in Paradoxa. All other rights are released to the author following publication in Paradoxa.

Send 1 electronic copy (Word or similar, or PDF) attachment of each submission to info@paradoxa.com, or one hard-copy to:
